How to use Claude for shopping and check for discount codes

Claude can help turn a shopping brief into a shortlist. A connector gives it a specific catalog to search, while you keep control of the purchase.

A useful shopping conversation starts with what matters to you: the budget, the product requirements and what you are willing to compromise on. Claude can help organize that decision. Connecting a catalog lets you ask it to search a named source rather than leave the source of every result implicit.

Here is a workflow using Passt, the shopping connector listed as GenesisPay Catalog.

Give Claude a shopping brief

Start with the item, the maximum price and the details you would otherwise use to filter a store. Include your delivery country. For clothing, mention size and material; for electronics, name the exact model or essential specifications.

For example:

I want wool runners under $120 for everyday use. I am buying in the United States. Find a few options and show the store, listed price, product link and any published discount information. Separate confirmed product details from things I need to check at the store.

This is an example request, not a promise that the catalog will contain a matching product or code.

Add Passt to Claude

Open Passt's connector page in Claude, review the publisher and capabilities, and follow the connection steps shown for your account. Passt does not require a separate account or payment.

Anthropic is rolling out a sidebar called Plugins in place of Customize. If you browse manually, look for connectors in whichever interface your account has. Organization settings may control what you can add.

Start a new chat, enable the connector if required, and name GenesisPay Catalog in your first request. Naming it makes the source you want explicit. Connecting a service does not mean every future shopping answer will use it.

Ask for catalog results

Try:

Use GenesisPay Catalog for this search. Show up to three matching products with their listed prices and store links. Include any published discount information supplied with each result and its conditions. Do not invent a code. If the search returns nothing suitable, tell me.

Check whether Claude actually used the connector. If it answered from web search, ask it to distinguish those findings from catalog results. Both can help, but the sources and coverage differ.

The catalog reflects what the index last read. Open the product page to confirm stock and price before making a decision.

Compare the shortlist

Ask Claude to explain the differences using the requirements you gave it. A useful comparison might separate material, size availability, listed price, delivery information and return conditions.

When a detail is absent, have Claude leave it unknown. Do not let a tidy comparison table turn missing information into an assumed feature.

You can refine the request without restarting:

Keep the wool requirement. Remove anything over budget at its listed price, and show what is still unknown about shipping and returns.

Read discount information carefully

A code in a catalog result is published discount information, not proof that your cart qualifies. Read the source and conditions, then check it at the store's checkout. A result without a code tells you only that the result does not include one.

Passt cannot test a checkout, place an order or pay for you. Some catalog links are marked affiliate links, from which GenesisPay may earn a commission.

Buy at the store

Follow the store link, select the correct product variant and check the order total. Confirm delivery charges, tax and return conditions before paying.

If you are using a phone and the connector does not appear, check the account and workspace first. Anthropic supports remote connectors on mobile, but mobile installation is still in beta; completing setup on the web is a practical fallback.

Start with Passt's Claude connector, then give Claude one clear shopping task. Keep the first search small enough that you can check every result.
